why doesn't listview arrangement list sum items?

using c# .net 2.0, i have an owner-drawn listview where i'm vital ondrawcolumnheader, ondrawitem ondrawsubitem events. i set perspective ability sum during design-time, all works beautifully i switch perspective ability perspective modes arrangement should (i'm controlling tile view). however, i start any view, both list sum views blank.
