what slows down flourishing database performance?
i'm formulating database, prototyping benchmarking first. i am controlling h2, an open-source, commercially free, embeddable, relational, java database. i am now indexing any column.
after database grew 5gb, the collection speed doubled (the rate minute slowed 2x uncanny rate). i minute roughly 25 rows per milliseconds fresh, purify database during 7gb i'm minute roughly 7 rows/ms. rows include short, an int, float, byte[5].
i know many database internals even h2 programmed. i also note i'm badmouthing h2, given problem dbmss i've tested.
what factors competence delayed down database there's indexing overhead? does especially have something record component structure? results, i assume proceed windows xp ntfs hoop files creates slower insert information finish record file grows.
