using ruby-based mysql adaptor c mysql gem already installed?

well impossibly frustrating. after being nagged rails i need exercise c-based mysql adaptor, i so... following detected won't work mysql underneath chronicle 6. 'gem uninstall mysql' law 'unknown gem mysql'.
